This morning at approximately 3:22AM WPI Police responded to the Townhouses for a report of a subject, dressed in dark clothing, attempting to break into an apartment. The subject was observed attempting to open a door and a first-floor window, but never entered the unit.  Once the subject became aware the unit was occupied he left the area immediately and was last seen running towards Park Ave.

WPI Police are investigating.

Prevention Advice
  • Make sure all interior windows and doors are locked and dead bolted when closed.
  • If there is an intruder in your home do not confront, stay in a safe place and call police immediately
  • Make sure there are no ladders or other yard tools that could be used to gain access to a window. Exterior lighting is a deterrent. Inventory your property with a video recorder or camera.
  • Record the serial numbers of your property.
  • Draw your shades.
  • Remove expensive articles from the residence when away for extended periods of time.
  • Establish relationships with neighbors and check on each other's property when away.
