Doctoral Student Profiles

Jayam is a graduate student in Robotics Engineering and working on Human-Swarm Interaction in NEST Lab. He completed his MS in Robotics in May 2016 and BEng. in Electronics and Communication in May 2012. His previous research interests and experiences have been in Assistive Robotics, Internet of Things and Home Automation. His passion is to teach and wants to remain in academia for his life. Along with academia, he loves gaming and listening to music. He is well connected to his spiritual side and practices Reiki and Tarot Card Reading.

Michael obtained a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island in 2016, and he began his PhD in Robotics Engineering at WPI in January 2017. Michael is a Research Engineer at Delsys Inc., and his research focuses on motor control strategies. Prior to his academic study, Michael served as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy for 8 years, and deployed twice with the United States Marines Corps in direct support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He currently serves as a Chief Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy Reserve.

Marek was born and raised in Portland, Maine and completed a B.S. and M.S. in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Connecticut. He also has an M.S. Automation and Control Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. Marek is a PhD student in the Robotics Engineering department and his research interests include robotic control systems applied to medical technologies and image guided therapy. His current work is developing MRI compatible robots for prostate cancer biopsies.
