While a thoughtful, reflective essay is in peril of falling to the onslaught of AI tools all across the educational landscape, it is important to hear what students themselves say about the effort and value of expository or creative writing. Are WPI students ready to see creative self-expression disappear in favor of efficiency? Complex views and nuanced positions on this that have been shared in literature and writing classes, with specific attributes of human voice as distinct from LLM output uncovered and examined. Come and share your own experiences, frustrations, strategies, and discoveries and maybe get inspired by what our students say and feel as they rediscover the joy and personal growth that come with the effort of self-expression through writing.
