Interim Policy Prohibiting Discrimination
WPI is committed to fostering a community grounded in respect, equity, dignity, and belonging. As part of that commitment, WPI has adopted a new Interim Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, effective August 7, 2026. The policy strengthens WPI's framework for addressing discrimination and aligns institutional practices with applicable federal and state civil rights laws, including Title VI, Title VII, Section 504, Title IX (excluding sexual misconduct), and the Age Discrimination Act.
The development of this interim policy included consultation with representatives from Faculty, Staff Council, and Student Affairs leadership, whose feedback informed the final policy. Further discussions will continue this year before a permanent policy is enacted.
The policy prohibits discrimination based on legally protected characteristics, including race, color, national origin, shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics, sex, age, religion, disability, genetic information, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital or parental status, veteran status, and other statuses protected by law. It applies to all members of the WPI community, including students, faculty, staff, and third parties.
Thank you for your continued commitment to creating a respectful and inclusive community at WPI.
