Statement on Rescinded ICE Policy Guidance

Department(s):

Office of the President

Today’s actions to rescind ICE policy guidance is a victory for all of higher education. This decision ends the uncertainty that would have forced international students and scholars to make drastic decisions about their future educational pursuits, thereby threatening their success. WPI has a proud history of welcoming and educating people from around the world, and earlier this week joined nearly 60 other colleges and universities in signing an amicus brief in support of the Harvard, MIT lawsuit to stop the new visa rules. These future STEM leaders are important members of our community, and during a time already filled with challenges and disruptions it is more important than ever to provide them with flexibility, not barriers.
