Upcoming NCFDD Programming

With the summer months upon us, we want to highlight some excellent upcoming programs offered by the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD). With the exception of the Faculty Success Program, all NCFDD programs are free of charge to WPI faculty, staff, post-docs, and graduate students, thanks to our institutional membership which was recently renewed by Talent & Inclusion.

Every Summer Needs a Plan (Thu May 12, 2-3pm): Identify personal and professional goals and the balance of rest and productivity that you want this summer.

14-Day Writing Challenge (Jun 20 – Jul 3): Experiment with writing at least 30 minutes daily with supportive accountability from an online community. Register by June 15.

Faculty Success Program (next offered Aug 28-Nov 19): This signature “bootcamp” uses evidence-based methods to improve scholarly productivity and work-life balance through accountability, coaching, and peer support. Priority registration for institutional members ($4,150) for the fall offering will be available from Jun 1-24 . Regular registration is $4,950 and closes July 27. Faculty are encouraged to negotiate cost-sharing with their department head. Contact morgan-center@wpi.edu for more info about the FSP, advice on negotiating cost-sharing, and to reserve a priority registration spot.

Core Curriculum: Moving from Resistance to Writing (Jun 9), The Art of Saying No (Jul 14), Cultivating Your Network of Mentors, Sponsors, & Collaborators (Aug 11). These are 90-minute webinars from 2-3:30pm. Recordings are available afterwards.

Guest Webinars (all from 2-3pm): How to Edit Scholarly Volumes (May 24), Rising Above Burnout (Jun 21), Mentorship: Efficient and Effective Practices (Jul 19). Recordings are available afterwards.

Multi-Week Course: Making the Case: Preparing Your Dossier for Promotion to Full Professor (2-3pm on Jul 27, Aug 3,  Aug 10, Aug 17). Given WPI’s promotion timeline, this will be helpful mostly to those planning or considering a promotion application in 2023.

If you do not yet have an NCFDD account, go to the NCFDD home page, click “Become a member” on the top right, and select WPI from the drop-down menu to register.
