WPI firmly believes that living on campus provides students with a more engaging and enriching college experience. As at many universities in densely populated regions, demand for on-campus housing at WPI is extremely high. While we guarantee on-campus housing for first-year students, we know we cannot provide housing for all upperclass students who seek it. We have worked thoughtfully and creatively to offer additional housing for this academic year, and we are writing to share details with you.

WPI has renewed our lease of the Hampton Inn on Prescott Street, adjacent to Gateway Park, which provides housing for 184 first-year students.

In addition, we are excited to introduce South Village, a convenient and comfortable residential community located a short walk from the main WPI campus that will provide housing for more than 80 upperclass students currently on our housing waitlist.

South Village, located on Marston Way, is a short walk to classes, the Campus Center, and the Sports & Recreation Center. The properties were previously leased by Becker College students and are owned by Hampton Properties, a company that enjoys a very good reputation in Worcester and currently leases apartments to a number of our students in the same neighborhood.

WPI has entered a 12-month lease on the properties and is preparing them now for move-in week in mid-August. Residential Advisors and professional staff from the Housing & Residential Experience Center will live on site, and all maintenance, grounds keeping, and cleaning will be managed by the WPI Facilities staff.  The campus shuttle will serve the students, and WPI Campus Police will monitor the area.

Please contact the Housing & Residential Experience Center at res-services@wpi.edu with any questions.
