DAY 1 - MONDAY, JANUARY 18th

Workshop Name: Getting to know Scopus

Workshop Facilitators: Elsevier Trainers

Workshop Description:  As the largest, curated abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, Scopus gives you the insights and tools to deliver a best-in-class research experience!  This session will cover the training fundamentals of: Author identity – How to Interpret and work with author profiles; Search Strategies - executing searches using the full range of topical search functionality offered in Scopus; Conducting comparative analytics and developing visualizations.

DAY 2 – TUESDAY, JANUARY 19th

Workshop Name:  Introduction to Open Science Practices

Workshop Facilitators: Prof. Stacy Shaw

Workshop Description:  This session will provide an introduction to open science, with specific focus on the practices involved in open science such as making materials and data open and accessible and preregistering study hypotheses.

Workshop Name:  Introduction to the OSF (Open Science Framework)

Workshop Facilitators: Prof. Stacy Shaw 

Workshop Description:  Learn about the Open Science Framework (OSF)  - an online tool where you can search and find data, post your code and data, preregister a study, and post preprints of empirical manuscripts. Participants will learn how to create research projects on the OSF, post their research materials for others to find, preregister studies, and share these projects with others.

DAY 3 – WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20th

Workshop Name: Finding Business Resources

Workshop Description:  This session will provide an overview of our business resources and then take a closer look at a few of the frequently used databases.  Participants will engage in group activities and will search for sources related to scenarios around starting a new business venture.

Workshop Name: Open Citation Management with Zotero - Your Personal Research Assistant!

Workshop Description:  Zotero is a free, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, organize, cite, and share research.  Learn how to collect and organize resources, create references and bibliographies, and collaborate with others to build a shared library for your research project!

Workshop Name: Mendeley 101: Citation Management & More

Workshop Facilitators: Mendeley/Elsevier Trainers

Workshop Description:  Mendeley is a free reference manager and an academic social network.  Attendees will have an opportunity to learn the basics of Mendeley Institutional Edition including how to set up your free account, how to import references and documents to your personal library, generate citations and create a bibliography, and use other exciting features.
