Premium Times, a Nigerian online paper, highlights the recent workshop on Mathematics and Science for Sub-Saharan Africa, held at WPI last month. Wole Soboyejo, dean of engineering, explained the need for the workshop saying “most of the teaching methods being used in the teaching of sciences are too abstract and hardly create the desired knowledge in students…a new approach will raise a young generation of Nigerians with the capacity to tackle the developmental needs of the country and the sub-region.”
