WPI punctuated it's best season in school history by finishing third in the varsity eight race and as a team at the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, FL.  The team finish is the highest of any NCAA team sport in school history.  Bates won both the varsity eight and second varsity eight and claimed its second straight team title with 56 points while 2016 champion was second with 45 while Jason Steele’s WPI team amassed 42 points following a fifth place in the grand final of the second varsity eight.  In the varsity eight, Bates won wire-to-wire in a time of 6:40.713 while Ithaca (6:44.886) crossed the line just ahead of the Engineers (6:44.886).  In the 2V, WPI finished ahead of sixth place Pacific Lutheran by over five seconds (7:12.921 to 7:18.328) to assure that WPI would be in third place as a team after the varsity eight claimed bronze.  Meet the Varsity Eight -- Meet the Second Varsity Eight

Sophomore Sydney Packard became a three-time All-America, this time with a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Packard, who was seventh at the 2017 outdoor meet and third at the 2018 indoor meet, handed in a 2:09.65 which was 1.4 seconds better than a year ago.  Packard leads all WPI honorees on the track and ties high jumper Julie Eagle for second all-time, and is one shy of high jumper Laura Pumphrey. It is also the sixth consecutive outdoor meet the Engineers have boasted an All-America and it is the program's 11th overall for head coach Brian Chabot. On Friday Packard was second in qualifying with a school record 2:08.67 while teammate Lea Strangio closed out her standout career in 18th place (2:13.40).

The men's 4x400-meter relay placed sixth in its heat and 11th overall on the first day of the 2018 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships. Alex Rus, Paul-Henry Schoenhagen, Nick Fleury, Warren Staver began strong and paced the field following the first handoff before concluding the men's portion of the season with a time of 3:14.49, which was one spot and over a second better than last year's configuration.

Ama Biney became the softball program’s initial first team All-American when she was bestowed the honor by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) at the NCAA Division III Softball Championship banquet Wednesday evening.  It is the third time the Crimson and Gray have an All-American in softball as classmate Nina Murphy Cook was a third team selection in 2015 and picked up second team distinction in 2016.

Ryan Tropeano has been named second team All-New England by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).  It is the second straight all-region nod for the outfielder as he was honored as a first team selection following the 2017 campaign.
