Expert Bio

Corey Dehner is an environmental policy expert whose work centers on community engagement on water management and environmental protection. She helps identify community and government partnerships that lead to meaningful student project experiences on issues including wilderness ethics, environmental stewardship, water quality,  and stormwater runoff mitigation. She can speak about her research and work on environmental ethics, student connections to nature, well-being and the outdoors, civic engagement, and environmental law.

WPI program teaches students government side of environmental engineering

The Telegram & Gazette reported on the accomplishments of the Massachusetts Water Resource Outreach Center. The project center allows students to work with regional cities, towns, and other organizations on water resource challenges. The article discusses the 10-year history of projects conducted through the center and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection's Educator Award which was given in June to the center's co-directors: Corey Dehner, associate professor of teaching in The Global School, and Paul Mathisen, associate professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering and WPI’s director of sustainability.

WPI profs earn state honor for decade of clean‑water projects

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has given its Educator Award to Corey Denenberg Dehner, associate professor of teaching in The Global School, and Paul Mathisen, associate professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering and WPI’s director of sustainability. The award recognizes Dehner and Mathisen's work as co-directors of the Massachusetts Water Resource Outreach Center. The project center allows WPI student teams to partner with municipalities, local government agencies, and watershed organizations to work on water resource challenges.
