What:

The Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Venture Forum will open its 18th year with a keynote address by Susan Windham-Bannister, PhD, president and CEO of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, the agency charged with realizing Gov. Deval Patrick’s vision for investing in the state’s booming life sciences industry.  In June, Governor Patrick signed the $1 billion life sciences bill into law to fuel growth in this industry. Windham-Bannister will speak to the impact that the new funding will have upon the state over the next decade. She will also discuss expectations for the growth and support of research and investment in life sciences in Worcester in particular, since it is the home of the WPI Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center at Gateway Park and a growing hub for life sciences companies. A case presentation will also be made featuring RXi Pharmaceuticals President and Chief Executive Officer Tod Woolf, PhD. Entrepreneurs may make a “one-minute funding pitch” to the audience prior to the case. Sign up online at www.wpiventureforum.org.
