Katherine (they/them) is the Operations Manager for the Computer Science Department. Their responsibilities include working with the Department Head, developing tools and help documentation for faculty and staff, assisting students, and managing budgetary and financial matters. They previously worked for the Robotics Engineering department, where they were honored to receive the 2020 Rho Beta Epsilon Award for Excellence in Robotics Education. They have a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College in English, with a concentration in Creative Writing, and so naturally they spent several years in both science fiction and academic STEM publishing. They are currently an MFA candidate in the Interactive Media and Game Design program at WPI, graduating in May 2026, focusing on Arts-Based Research (ABR) and reconstructions of Early Modern household apothecary. Their capstone project, An Apothecary Dreams: An Interactive Time Capsule Inventing Science Past, Present, and Beyond, was spotlighted in the Fall-Winter 2025 WPI Journal. Their hobbies include spending time with family and supporting Auckland's Western Districts Hockey Club.
