Mike is responsible for WPI’s budget and planning, financial accounting and reporting, financial services, facilities operations, capital projects, endowment and investment management, debt management, compliance and risk management, information technology, procurement, campus police, institutional strategic initiatives management, university analytics, and institutional audit.
He has held senior finance and leadership roles across higher education, including Vice President for Finance, CFO, and Treasurer at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Before IIT, he served as Vice President for Business and Finance at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, where he was a key member of the leadership team and helped guide strategic planning efforts while overseeing financial modeling, budgeting, investment management, facilities, purchasing, insurance, auxiliary enterprises, vendor relationships, and capital projects.
Mike served as Vice President for Business and Finance and CFO at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta from 2009 to 2014. During that time, he led a financial turnaround by rebuilding the controller’s office, strengthening financial operations, and developing modeling to realign the university’s fiscal stability with its mission and strategic goals. In addition, he has taught as an adjunct professor of business at Oglethorpe. Prior to his career in higher education, he held leadership roles at Cox Communications, where he served as Vice President and Controller and Executive Director for Shared Services and Restructuring.
Mike is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Fort Lewis College, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut, and a Doctor of Higher Education Administration from the University of Georgia.
