Campus Wellness Coalition

The Campus Wellness Coalition is a cross-functional group that brings together faculty, staff, and students to support the ongoing development of WPI as a Health Promoting Campus. The Coalition was instrumental in facilitating WPI’s adoption of the Okanagan Charter in 2024, reinforcing WPI’s commitment to creating conditions that support the health, well-being, and success of the entire community.

The Coalition meets eight times each academic year and works to:

  • Stay informed about the evolving landscape of campus health and well-being;
  • Identify and elevate opportunities for growth and development;
  • Educate and advocate for health-promoting policies and practices across campus; and
  • Maintain communication with WPI senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.

The Evolution of the Campus Wellness Coalition

From a focus on mental health and well-being to a broader vision for a Health Promoting Campus.

In early 2022, WPI’s Mental Health & Well-Being Task Force presented its findings on the mental health and well-being needs of the community:

The Task Force transitioned to the Mental Health Implementation Team, composed of students, faculty, and staff, to operationalize recommendations from the Task Force and others.

  • A subsequent task force, composed of students, faculty, and staff, helped operationalize recommendations and provided an update to the community; read it here.
  • In 2023, a Campus Wellness Coalition was formed and meets eight times each academic year to identify, advocate, and support the evolution of campus policies and practices with attention to health, wellbeing, and sustainability.
