Moving In

By coming to campus at your designated arrival time, you are acknowledging that you will not come to campus if you have a fever or other COVID-19-like symptoms; if you are advised to self-isolate, self-quarantine, or get tested for COVID-19; if you test positive for COVID-19; or if you have been in close contact with someone, including any member of your household, who you know has tested positive for COVID-19, is being tested for COVID-19, or has COVID-19-like symptoms.  

• Arrivals of any kind before a students designated day and time or outside of move-in hours will NOT be permitted. Students should make plans for their own accommodation if they must arrive in Worcester before their move-in date and time.  
• Students should monitor their WPI email frequently for important updates.  
• Students will need to register for a move-in timeslot on the Housing Portal by logging in and then selecting “Forms” from the grey bar at the top. 
• If you do not select a timeslot, one will be assigned for you.

Campus Arrival:  

*Note – If you are approved to arrive early you will receive specific arrival instructions via email. 

• All residential students arriving should proceed to Gateway Park Garage, 50 Prescott Street, for check-in and to receive all move-in materials.  DO NOT go to your residence hall to check-in.  
• In this “drive through” process, students will be given their residence hall room key at the Gateway Garage. First year residential students will receive their WPI ID as well.  
• DO NOT return to campus if you are experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms.  You should follow all guidelines for self-reporting of positive status, isolation protocols, and return to campus once you can leave isolation.  If you begin to experience symptoms once you arrive, please contact WPI Health Services for next steps and further information.
• All cars will then proceed to the student’s assigned residence hall following the paths of travel maps. Please follow all signage and be aware of pedestrian traffic. 

• The driver will remain inside the vehicle in the 15-minute unload zone. Once the car is unloaded, the driver will move the car and park at the Park Ave Garage, Higgins Lot, Hackfeld Lot, or the Dean Street Garage (whatever available parking is closest to the student’s building). Overflow parking will be available at the Gateway Garage.

• The student and other guests may proceed to the room to begin unpacking. 

Reminders and Important Information:  

• The driver MUST remain with the vehicle while unloading. 

• Families and friends (visitors) are welcome to assist their student in moving in. 
• Students are encouraged to bring what will fit in a single vehicle for move-in. Not all residence halls have elevators so please plan accordingly. We also want to encourage you to look at our information for  What to Bring  with you.   
• Outside furniture will not be permitted.
