On April 19, 2017 at approximately 08:56AM, a WPI Student contacted the WPI Police department and reported that sometime after 7:00AM her ex-boyfriend bound and restrained her at her apartment. According to the student he held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her. The WPI Police and Worcester Police responded and an active search was initiated for the suspect. The suspect was apprehended by the Worcester Police Department and arrested at his residence. The Worcester Police Department will be handling the ongoing investigation. The suspect Christopher Ortega-Saavedra will be charged with violation of a Restraining Order, Aggravated Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Additional charges are pending and under review.

A WPI student accompanied by two friends were walking on Park Avenue at Drury Lane when they observed two light skinned males, one of which was walking on the lawn towards the rear of a residence on Drury Lane. The students attempted to speak with one male who in turn moved towards the group and gestured with his hand in the waistband of his pants. The male fled in a waiting vehicle parked on Drury Lane with the motor running. The second party fled on foot. Vehicle is described as a white GMC Terrain SUV with Massachusetts License plates-number not available at this time. Suspect number one is a heavy set light skinned male who is bald. The second suspect is also a light skinned male, thin build with a beard, black and gray hoodie style sweatshirt and dark pants.
