Ignite: A STEM Summer Program for Middle School Students

Ignite at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Is a hands-on STEM Summer Program for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders designed to spark curiosity, build scientific skills, and introduce young learners to exciting careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

 

What Is Ignite?

Ignite is a one-week, commuter, non-credit summer program that lets students explore STEM topics in a fun, collaborative, and project-based setting on the WPI campus. Participants learn directly from WPI faculty & instructors through interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and real lab experiences

Program At a Glance: 

Audience:

Ignite welcomes rising 6, 7, and 8th graders. Registration is based on grade level, but your student can expect to attend summer science programs for ages 10–14. 


Registration Deadline:

Please register your student by April 30, 2026.

Program Dates: 

  • Ignite Week 1 runs from Monday, July 6 - Friday, July 10, 2026
  • Ignite Week 2 runs from Monday, July 13 - Friday, July 17, 2026
  • Ignite Week 3 runs from Monday, July 20 - Friday, July 24, 2026
  • Ignite Week 4 runs from Monday, July 27 - Friday, July 31, 2026

Instruction Time: 

Ignite STEM programs run from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday in July. 


Cost: 

Cost of attendance for Ignite is $695 per week.
