Amanda Wetmore tallied 11 kills against and Lilly Taylor handed out 23 assists in the opener as Taylor and Catherine Reynolds combined for at least 24 helpers in each match as Volleyball defeated Regis (25-23, 25-16, 25-15) and Fitchburg State (25-8, 25-9, 25-6) in a non-conference women's volleyball tri-match Saturday in Harrington Auditorium.

Abby O'Sullivan notched her fourth career hat trick as Field Hockey team remained undefeated with a 6-1 road NEWMAC victory at Wheaton on Saturday afternoon.  The Engineers are now 11-0 overall and 3-0 in NEWMAC play.  WPI joins No. 1 Middlebury, No. 2 College of New Jersey and No. 15 Centre (KY) as the only undefeated teams in Division III and six in all of college field hockey along with Division I No. 1 North Carolina and Division II No.1 West Chester.  All six schools are 11-0 except the Division II Golden Rams who are 12-0.

Jackson Conroy scored the lone goal in a 1-0 Men’s Soccer victory over host Wheaton in a NEWMAC match Saturday at Keefe Field. The Engineers (7-2-3) remain unbeaten in conference play with a 2-0-2 ledger. Rufus Adams went almost the entire contest without having to make a save until a header at 87:43. Conroy and Mark Calnan each accounted for a pair of shots with both of the goal scorer's going on net.

Women's Rowing saw the varsity eight win the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta for the fourth consecutive year as the Engineers hosted Saturday on Lake Quinsigamond.  The varsity eight reached the finish line in 16:29.2, 2.7 seconds ahead of Williams (16:31.9)  It marked the first time the Engineers have defeated the Ephs in the fall season, even last season (Williams defeated WPI by 10 seconds at the Head of the Charles), when the Crimson and Gray ended up second at the NCAA Championships in the spring.  

Men's Rowing saw six boats participate in their first of two homes meets of the fall season as the Engineers hosted the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta Saturday on Lake Quinsigamond. In the Collegiate Eight the Engineers saw their varsity eight place fourth overall in a time of 14:17.9, behind Division I Holy Cross (13:59.1), Trinity (14:07.8) and Williams (14:08.0). 

Pair of days over Fall Break to catch multiple teams in action at home.  Tuesday features Women’s Soccer at 3:30 versus Fitchburg State and Volleyball at 7pm against Suffolk while Saturday headlines Men’s Soccer against Coast Guard and Field Hockey at 2:30pm versus MIT.  Football is back in action after its bye week with a noon kickoff Saturday at Catholic while Cross Country is at the Connecticut College Invitational.  Also this weekend Rowing is at the iconic Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday.

Men’s Student-Athlete of the Week

Jackson Conroy - Soccer - Senior - Reading, MA

Jackson Conroy of the soccer team has been tabbed as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 13th. Conroy scored the lone goal in a 1-0 WPI victory over host Wheaton in a NEWMAC men's soccer match Saturday. In all, the senior owns nine goals, including five game-winners, and eight assists for 26 points in 67 games played.

Varsity Eight - Rowing

The varsity eight from the rowing team has been honored as the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 13th. Olivia Kiristis (Upton, MA), Caitlin Kean (Shrewsbury, MA), Liz Graveline (Litchfield, NH), Amelia Harvey (Sudbury, MA), Lillian Neff (Havertown, PA), Ally Sichler (Reading, PA), Christine Hovermale (Alameda, CA), Melissa Bazakas-Chamberlain (Belmont, MA) and coxswain Amelia Papi (South Portland, ME) reached the finish line in 16:29.2, 2.7 seconds ahead of Williams (16:31.9) at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta.
