WPI's Foisie Business School’s blended MBA program debuts at #7 in the third annual ranking of Online MBA programs in the United States by Poets&Quants, one of the leading business school ranking bodies in terms of credibility, rigor of methodology, and impact.

Its blended MBA, one of the school’s flagship programs, was recently redesigned for greater impact and integration with the technologically driven professional world.

“There’s a clear need for a graduate education that increases technical knowledge and has a certain amount of management and organizational knowledge,” says Steve Taylor, Interim Dean of the FBS. “WPI can give them both.”

Foisie Business School’s MBA program combines WPI’s signature project-based learning approach with a blended, cohort-style format. Classes are a hybrid of online sessions and required in-person classes each semester to ensure students receive a group learning and community experience. Re-designed by associate professor Fabienne Miller and director Sandra Wellinghoff, students start with a team of like-minded peers, work through the program and projects together, and finish with a close-knit network that has proven fruitful to alumni career development. Their efforts have paid off: the most recent graduating class rated WPI's STEM MBA fifth in total academic experience and career outcomes in Poet&Quant's 2019 online MBA rankings.

Poets&Quants, the widely read and influential business school news hub, created its online MBA ranking based on three components: the quality of the incoming students, the academic and extracurricular experience judged by recent graduates, and the professional and career outcome of students. Its admission standards take into consideration standardized testing, depth of work experience, undergraduate GPA, and average work experience. The MBA experience is based on the quality of the professors, class projects, international immersion, and clubs/organizations. Career outcomes are based on goal-attainment, career coach/mentor, career services, salary increases, etc. With those guiding factors, Poets&Quants surveys schools and alumni that have graduated in the past two years to create the 2020 ranking of top online MBA program. More information on its methodology can be found here.
