In the spirit of March Madness, from March 19 through 30, each varsity team's alumni will raise funds for the WPI Fund for Athletics, supporting and ensuring the success of WPI's athletes and teams. The five teams with the highest percentage of alumni who give back during the challenge will receive a share of $10,000 to support their athletes. Learn about the Goat Nation Giving Challenge! 

Renee LeClaire batted 4-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in the nightcap as Softball split a NEWMAC  twinbill with Emerson Saturday at Rotch Field. The Lions walked off with the opener, 9-8, while the Engineers rebounded with a 9-5 victory. Marissa Gonzales batted .714, including a double, triple and homer, with eight RBI and four runs scored.  Steven D'Agostino struck out a career-high nine batters, including four looking, and Jordan DeDonato batted 3-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and a pair of RBI as Baseball sank Mass. Maritime, 8-1, Monday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex.

Brendan Marion was tabbed as the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Co-Rookie of the Year while head coach Steve Hall '87 took home the association's Coach of the Year award.  Tyler Marsh added to the Crimson and Gray honors by being selected the All-NEWA first team while six others drew honorable mention praise from the conference and 13 were named to the all-academic team.

Women's Basketball seniors Ama Biney and Madison Beck, as well as Men's Basketball senior Chris Rodgers have garnered postseason honors from the Worcester Area College Basketball Association, as announced Wednesday in the Telegram & Gazette.

Weather permitting, we have home games every day from Tuesday through Saturday.  Tuesday and Thursday see Baseball hosting Babson and Fitchburg State respectively at 3:30pm.  Softball takes center stage with doubleheaders on Wednesday (vs. Amherst - 3:30pm), Friday (vs. Springfield - 3:30pm) and Saturday (vs Wheaton - Noon).   All games are at the New England Baseball Complex - 333 SW Cutoff, Northborough, MA 01532 while Softball plays on the Rooftop Field on campus.  Also Saturday, Track and Field makes its teamwide debut Saturday at the Tufts Snowflake Invitational.

Student-Athlete of the Week

Steven D’Agostino - Baseball - Senior - Worcester, M

Steven D’Agostino of the baseball team has been named as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 25th. D’Agostino allowed only two earned runs and struck out 15 as he went 1-1 for the Engineers. The southpaw had a strong start to the week with a career-high nine strikeouts in the 8-1 win versus Mass. Maritime. He went on to fan six MIT batters and finish the week with a 1.86 ERA.

 

 

Marissa Gonzales - Softball - Freshman - Oakley, CA

Marissa Gonzales from the softball team has been tabbed as the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 25th. Gonzales batted .714 (5-for-7) with eight RBI and four runs scored, as well as an eye-popping 1.571 slugging percentage as a result of hitting for the cycle over the course of Saturday’s NEWMAC split at Emerson. The rookie was 3-for-3 with a triple, four RBI and two runs scored in the opener and 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, four RBI and two runs in the game two triumph.
