Expert Bio

Kevin Leahy's research focuses on developing intelligent autonomous systems to ensure safe and reliable robots that can work alongside people and in coordination with other robots. His work combines robotics, artificial intelligence, computer science, and machine learning to improve the ability of autonomous and multi-agent systems to make safe and predictable decisions. His research work seeks to develop autonomous underwater and surface vehicles that can coordinate with each other when communication is difficult, such as in a submerged environment where cameras and GPS are unreliable. Leahy has also worked on autonomous collision avoidance technology in aviation. He can speak about his research, AI safety, the challenges of deploying autonomous technologies in a variety of settings, and decision-making and controls in robotic systems.
