Everyone knows April showers bring May flowers, but what else have they got? A once-in-a-lifetime eclipse, collaborative agreements with Quinsigamond Community College for transfer students, Accepted Student Days, project showcases—the WPI community has got some ideas. Here are a few things we were up to in April as Commencement season approached.

What do the design and analysis of high-powered model rockets, the role of CBD in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, increasing accessibility at the EcoTarium, and improving the process of post-disaster aid distribution have in common? They were all project topics at this year’s Undergraduate Research Projects Showcase, of course!

Get those eclipse glasses ready—the Quad was the place to be on the afternoon of April 8 as hundreds of students, faculty, and staff took a break from their work to witness the event.

Seniors took to the Odeum for music, dancing, snacks, and of course, lots of group photos as part of this year’s GradFest celebration.


 

“Just to see the impact—to see how much it means to people, to be able to work with people who have to work through this problem, to be able to help them with it, and to understand their perspective—was gratifying.” Read more about the smartphone apps developed by two groups of seniors that were designed to make visiting the EcoTarium and the Worcester Art Museum a more robust and independent experience for visually impaired people.

The Black Student Union’s annual fashion show is always the place to be, and this year was no different with live music performances, dancing, singing, and, of course, amazing outfits.
