New parking permits

Annual parking permit registration under way, with some changes for Campus Center lot
August 18, 2014

Staff from the Campus Police began

registering employees’ vehicles for new

parking permits this morning..

Campus Police began renewing employee parking permits in the lobby of the campus center, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today through Thursday, Aug. 21—and will begin at Gateway Park on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 25 and 26, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In order to minimize wait times for renewal, it is requested that employees with last names beginning with A-M apply for permits on Aug. 18, 19, or 25. Employees with last names beginning with N-Z apply on Aug. 20, 21, or 26. If these dates are not convenient, employees have the option of obtaining a permit at the Campus Police headquarters (lower level of Founders Hall) after or prior to these dates.

Employees will need to have available the following information: license plate number, year, make, model, and color of their vehicle. Employees may register multiple vehicles. It is suggested that employees download the online parking application in advance, and bring the completed form with them to registration. Note that your WPI employee ID is needed at permit renewal so that your employee status can be verified.

Departments have the option to designate one individual to pick up permits for multiple employees. Employees will need to complete and give their online parking applications to this individual.

Note that parking permits cannot be issued to employees who have outstanding parking fines. Fines may be paid with cash or check (made payable to WPI) at the time of registration. Forms for payment via payroll deduction are available at permit application. Payment by credit card must be done in advance of registration. Verify the amount owed with Campus Police and make payment at the Bursar’s window in Boynton Hall. Employees will be given a receipt that can be presented at time of permit registration.

It is essential that parking permits are reissued annually for safety and for efficient regulation of parking on campus.

CHANGES AT CAMPUS CENTER LOT

Effective Aug. 28, the first day of classes, the Campus Center Parking Lot will transition back to a first-come first-served parking lot for all employees.  Any employee with a valid hanging permit (any color), with an expiration date of 8/2015 will be able to park in the Campus Center Lot, (in any non-designated space).  Please note vehicles will no longer be able to double park behind one another.

Facilities will soon be erecting proper signage.

Refer to the university’s Parking Rules and Regulations for additional guidelines and information for all campus parking areas.  The section on the campus center lot will be updated by Aug. 28 to reflect the change.
