WPI Kicks Off 2016 United Way Campaign

WPI employees are encouraged to enter to win raffles and other prizes to raise money and awareness for United Way
November 10, 2016

The 2016 United Way campaign is now in full swing, and there are a number of ways to get involved in this year’s campaign, which runs until Dec. 18.

WPI’s United Way site is a great resource to learn more about the United Way of Central Mass., how it impacts the lives of people in our community, what's happening as part of the campaign, and how to make your online donation or explore options to volunteer throughout the year.

The United Way has already emailed you asking you to donate online, so please look for this important information.

“This year we are focusing on participation and trying to get as many people involved in the campaign as we can, no matter the amount that is donated,” says Melissa Luzzo, campaign coordinator.  “Every dollar counts!”

Here’s what’s happening over the next few weeks:

Casual Friday

Five dollars per Friday, or $20 for all five dates, with the offer ending tomorrow, Nov. 11. The dates for Casual Friday are Nov. 11 and 18, and Dec. 2, 9, and 16.

Raffle for Parking Spot

With slippery, freezing winter weather ahead, why not enter for a chance to win a parking space close to your building?  (Yes, it will come to you!) Donate $5, as many times as you like, to enter for a chance to win this coveted prize.

Raffle for WPI Swag Bag

Who doesn’t love to show off their WPI pride? You will find more than a dozen items in this United Way duffel bag. Second and third place prizes will be drawn and will be inside United Way tote bags. Enter the raffle as many times as you like for only $10 for a chance to win more than $250 worth of WPI apparel, accessories, and more.

Second & Third Prizes:

Every person who donates to the campaign, whether through a raffle, one-time donation, or payroll deduction, will be entered to win a WPI Blanket. “We have never done a raffle for a grand prize, so I think it will be exciting!” says Luzzo. “So many people contribute each year through payroll deductions, so this was a fun way to have everyone be eligible to win some great prizes!”

Check out our United Way Events page or come to the Human Resources office to see all the prizes in person. Ask for Melissa Luzzo to purchase raffle tickets or make a donation. Note: if donating by check, please make it out to WPI.

Thanks, once again, for your generous support. We look forward to making this another successful campaign. Remember, every dollar counts, and each dollar goes a long way to making a difference in the lives of people in our community.
