Cross Registration
These Higher Education Consortium of Central Massachusetts (HECCMA) institutions participate in cross-registration for undergraduates:
Full-time WPI undergraduate students who cross-register for courses at other HECCMA colleges pay no extra fees. Students are limited to one undergraduate course per semester. The no-charge plan does not include evening colleges or summer school. Students interested in registering for HECCMA courses should discuss their program with their advisors.
For graduate students, there are cross-registration agreements between the graduate physics programs at WPI and Clark University for graduate physics students (undergraduate students accepted to the BS/MS Physics program are also eligible), and between WPI and UMass Chan Medical School (limited to offerings in the UMass Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences only).
Students accepted to CAMPs (Collaborative Accelerated Masters Programs) who are still undergraduates at their home schools also use a cross-registration form to register for WPI courses.
Please note these important considerations to be prepared for cross-registration:
- You may be required to fill out additional forms and furnish documentation to the host institution.
- Course schedules at host institutes may impact your eligibility for graduation at your home institute (please check academic calendars prior to registration)
- Clark University/WPI physics graduate students, UMass Medical School/WPI, and CAMP students who are still undergraduates have separate registration processes (see below)
Registration Procedures
To Register for a HECCMA Course
- Find course listings on the website of the school you wish to register at. WPI listings can be found here.
- Fill-out the printable cross registration form..
- Obtain required signatures from home institution. (Check with your Registrar’s Office for requirements.)
- Bring form with appropriate signatures to host school to complete the registration process.
To Drop/Withdraw from a Cross-Registered Course
- Students must follow the drop/withdrawal deadlines and policies of the HOST institution.
- Students may access and fill-out the Drop/Withdrawal Form.
- Please be aware that your decision to drop/withdraw may impact your financial aid.
Registration at Clark University/WPI for Graduate Physics Students
- Complete WPI-Clark Graduate Physics Cross Registration Form (PDF) and obtain necessary approvals from home institution.
- Take completed form the Registrar's Office at the host institution.
- WPI graduate students must be in good academic standing and WPI undergraduate students must be accepted into the BS/MS program in order to register.
- You are limited to 3 courses per semester.
Registration at UMass Chan Medical School
- Complete WPI/UMass Cross Registration Form and obtain necessary approvals from home institution.
- Take completed form the Registrar's Office at the host institution.
- WPI students must be in good academic standing in order to register.
- You are limited to 2 courses per semester.
- Note that UMass may require identity verification; contact the Registrar to confirm procedure and necessary documents.
Registration for Accepted CAMP Students
- Complete the CAMP Registration Form and obtain approvals from your home institution and the WPI program director.
- Send the completed form to registrar@wpi.edu.
- You will be registered at WPI and at your home institution. Your final grade will be sent to your home institution.
- You must be accepted and confirmed to a CAMP program to use this form. You will only use this form while you are still an undergraduate at your home school. Once you graduate and become a WPI graduate student, you will register yourself in Workday.
Key to terms of "Home" and "Host" when registering:
Home: the school where you are matriculated (enrolled)
Host: the school where you wish to take a course as a guest
