During the summer, WPI's pre-collegiate outreach programs team offers three distinct, in-person programs: Ignite, Launch, and Frontiers.
In the Ignite program for rising 6, 7, and 8th graders, students discover the fundamentals of scientific inquiry and technique via fun hands-on experiences. Ignite is a commuter programs where students can start to build a basic understanding of an in-demand STEM field.
In the Launch program for rising 9, 10, and 11th graders, students leverage research and technology to find solutions to current problems in a variety of scientific fields alongside WPI’s renowned faculty. Launch is as a commuter program where students can step into the shoes of a video game designer, computer programmer, crime scene investigator, robotics engineer, and more!
In the Frontiers residential, overnight program for rising 10, 11, and 12th graders, students explore STEM through a collegiate lens, and prepare for their own college journey. Students are challenged to explore the outer limits of their knowledge in a STEM major and receive an introduction to a humanities, arts, or business minor such as entrepreneurship, digital imaging, or psychology!
In addition to our pre-collegiate summer progams, WPI also offers five-week online summer courses for credit, allow students to explore STEM curriculum alongside WPI’s world-renowned faculty. High Achieving High School students who have completed their sophomore or junior year the opportunity to earn college credit. There are online and in person options
