My research lies at the intersections of orbital mechanics and hypersonic flight mechanics with a focus on expanding the space mission design envelop using novel techniques and enabling next-generation exploration architectures. My work spans a variety of mission designs for planetary explorations, such as orbiter co-delivery concepts for entry vehicles, sample returns from the giant planets, and multi-probe for outer planets exploration. Prior to joining the faculty at WPI in 2001, I was a Senior Staff Engineer in the Advanced Propulsion Technology Group at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). My research at JPL included application of plasma sources for materials processing and the development of pulsed plasma and small-scale hydrazine thrusters. In the mission support area, I worked as the propulsion engineer for the Deep Space 3 Interferometer and Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) missions. ...

Professor Demetriou is very active with the Controls and Systems research community. He served as an Associate Editor in the IEEE Tr. on Automatic Control (2004-2007), in the ASME Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control (2009-2011), and in SIAM J. Control and Optimization (2009-present). He is also serving in the IEEE-Control Systems Society Conference Editorial Board as an Associate Editor (1997-present). I joined WPI in Fall 2021, bringing with me a passion for both research and teaching. My research expertise lies in experimental and analytical fluid mechanics, with a strong focus on turbulent transport in non-equilibrium and high Reynolds number boundary layer flows. Within this realm, I specialize in experimental measurements and reduced-order modeling. After graduating from UNH with a chemical engineering degree in 2005, Danielle Cote worked as a researcher at Saint-Gobain in the Northboro Research and Development Center in polymer science and data automation. Cote continued working while she pursued a master’s degree at WPI, followed by a PhD fellowship, and joined the WPI faculty in 2016. ...

Dr. Selçuk Güçeri is an internationally recognized, distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering at WPI, where he also served as the inaugural Bernard M. Gordon Dean of Engineering from 2011-2013. Dr. Güçeri earned his undergraduate degree from ODTÜ/METU in Türkiye and his Ph.D. from North Carolina State University. I am an applied mathematician working in the fields of small-scale fluid mechanics and microfluidics. My research includes both mathematical modeling and physical experiments. In particular, I am interested in particle and solute transport in small-scale systems, such as municipal water filtration facilities. At WPI, I enjoy teaching all courses fundamental to applied mathematics, scientific computing, and modeling. I look forward to mentoring students interested in working on areas in Mathematical Biology, Computational Biofluids, and Scientific Computing. I specialize in Mathematical Biology, understanding emergent properties of complex systems. The goals of these models are to understand the underlying biological processes and make predictions.
