Open Spaces. Open Minds. Open Possibilities.
Join us for the community opening of WPI’s Foisie Innovation Studio and Messenger Residence Hall on August 16 from 3 to 5 pm.
Come see the campus-changing results of the work that began 18 months ago. Get your bearings when you enter the building by first checking out the interactive, two-story feature wall of screens, where you’ll see images of the places, faces, and activities that make WPI’s impact in the world.
From there, take a self-guided tour of the building (maps provided) to experience how the building’s design encourages the creativity and collaboration so essential to the framework here.
See the Robotics Lab where robots (in all states of assembly) are created, tested, and put through their paces. Step inside the active learning classrooms where flexible seating and versatile technology options are key to learning and collaborating. Check out the latest innovative tools and equipment in the Makerspace and Prototyping Lab where “let’s try this” will be a common refrain.
Head upstairs to see more active learning classrooms and to investigate the Global Lab, a new home for all things project related. Bolstered by the technology in the media lab and the editing room, this space offers opportunities to connect with partners across the globe and to enhance project work here.
Offices provide space for visiting scholars, entrepreneurs in residence, or graduate fellows. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Lab is open for connections and new ventures. Lastly, see what a typical dorm room in the new Messenger Hall looks like and see how bumping into someone in the lounge area or tech suite could lead to the next great development.
Before you leave, treat yourself to samples of pretzels and smoothies from the cafe to get a flavor of the newest campus offerings.
