WPI's online Master of Engineering program in biomedical engineering (BME) prepares graduates to enter the workforce with deeper technical knowledge and the skillset for leadership and innovation in the industry. Students acquire an understanding of business practices, regulations, and controls in the biomedical industry. Courses are delivered online to accommodate students working full-time. 

Learning Outcomes

Throughout this degree program, students will:

  • Gain mastery in medical device design and controls, biomaterials, FDA regulations, and other specialized areas
  • Develop leadership skills in engineering positions and beyond
  • Learn to innovate solutions with global impact

  • 12 credits in Biomedical Engineering
  • 3 credits in Life Sciences
  • 3 credits in Advanced Mathematics
  • An additional 3 credits in Life Sciences of Advanced Mathematics
  • 12 graduate-level elective credits in any advisor-approved subject, including physics, math, biomedical engineering, etc.
  • Graduate Seminar (BME 591): a zero-credit requirement that can be fulfilled by attending pre-approved seminars, workshops, or conferences - on campus, off campus, or online
