A Thanksgiving Message from President Leshin:

WPI President Laurie Leshin’s Thanksgiving 2021 Community Message

COVID-19 Testing During Thanksgiving Week:

  • The testing center will be open as usual Sunday, November 21 - Tuesday, November 23. You can make your appointment here.
  • There will be no testing Wednesday, November 24 - Sunday, November 28.
  • Twice weekly testers only need ONE test this week.

Post-Thanksgiving COVID-19 Testing:

WPI’s COVID-19 testing program has been helping to minimize the spread of infection among our community, and it is critically important that everyone resume regular testing protocols immediately after the holiday break:

  • Students must test the day they return to campus - or as soon as possible - depending upon the test site’s hours of operation starting on Monday, November 29.
  • Following that, undergraduate students - and anyone who is unvaccinated - should then continue testing on a twice-weekly cycle for the remainder of the term/semester (such as Monday/Thursday, Tuesday/Thursday, Monday/Wednesday).
  • Employees must also resume weekly testing the week of November 29.

Thanksgiving Week Dining:

For Students on any WPI Meal Plan:

A traditional Thanksgiving meal will be available for pickup on Wednesday November 24 from 9:30 – 2:00 in the Campus Center. Pickup can occur at the same time you get your Wednesday breakfast or lunch.

WPI Parents and Donors Sponsoring a Special Thanksgiving Dinner for Students Staying on Campus:

Students who are staying on campus over break are invited to a Thanksgiving Day meal at Maxwell Luciano’s Banquet and Conference Center at Union Station in Worcester at 3:45pm. Thanks to a group of WPI Parents and other donors, there is no cost for this special meal. Transportation will also be provided.  Registration is required by Friday the 19th and students can register online here.

Everyone is Encouraged to Get a Flu Shot this Year:

Flu shots offer another way to help protect the health of our entire WPI community. This shot is not mandatory, and you do not need to provide WPI with flu shot documentation.

Although WPI does not plan on having any additional flu clinics on campus this year, the flu vaccine is readily available off campus, and the following locations are easily accessible via the WPI SNAP Van:

NOTE: Calling ahead for an appointment is recommended.

As of Today:

Although WPI will continue to require external guests to be vaccinated and/or provide a negative COVID-19 test 72 hours prior to attending an event, the university will no longer require attestation forms from those guests. Please read the COVID Events Guidelines for more details.

Looking Ahead:

Students can soon expect to see information about the upcoming winter break (which begins on December 17) and onboarding plans for the January return. In the meantime, anyone with questions about residence halls during winter break, please check out these FAQs or contact the Residential Services Office at res-services@wpi.edu
