WPI Update: COVID Symptom and Testing Reminders

DEPARTMENT(S):
April 22, 2022

This message was sent to the WPI Community.

Spring is here—and we are seeing an uptick in cases of allergies, colds, and flu, along with COVID-19 on campus. We know you’re busy with classes, exams, and preparing for Commencement or your summer break, and you don’t want illness to get in the way.

To avoid contracting any type of illness during this home stretch, we suggest that you wear a high-quality mask in classrooms, labs, and other public settings—especially if you are planning to attend Commencement. Masks are optional on campus, but good masks work and they’re an effective way to minimize the spread of COVID, colds, and flu.

Remember, if you’re feeling ill:

  • Stay home and take care of yourself.
  • Wear a high quality mask to protect others from COVID-19, colds, and flu.
  • Get tested for COVID-19.
  • Avoid large gatherings.

COVID-19 symptoms may appear even before someone tests positive, so if you’re feeling ill and get a negative test, it could still be COVID-19. This flyer provides updated information about testing and symptoms.

Students should call Health Services with questions; employees should call their healthcare provider.

Thank you for your thoughtful care and consideration of others. Let’s finish the academic year strong and healthy so everyone can enjoy Commencement and the start of the summer!
