IT delivers an advanced technology infrastructure, security and access management, data systems and integration for decision support, user-centric support services, and a robust IT governance process.


VP for Information Technology and CIO

Sia Najafi is WPI’s Interim vice president for information technology and chief information officer. He oversees Network Operations, Systems Services, Application Administration, Data Architecture, Enterprise Resource Planning, Support Services, Project Management, Academic Technologies, Research Computing, and IT Security for WPI community and plays a major role in the strategic initiatives of the university.
In his previous role as Executive Director of Academic and Research Computing group Sia provided vision and leadership in developing strategic plans and policies to guide and manage research computing infrastructure and support at WPI. Sia and his team supported and managed research data and high-performance computer clusters to accommodate the expanding WPI research mission and meet federal guidelines for research data management.
Sia is a WPI alumnus with his BS and MS degrees in mechanical engineering.
