Graduation Candidacy Application

In order to be considered for degree candidacy, each student MUST FILE AN APPLICATION with the Registrar’s Office in accordance with respective deadlines below. Graduate students must be registered in the semester in which the degree requirements are completed. Below is a summary of the WPI graduation application process as applied by the WPI Business School.

WPI Business School: Graduation Application Process

The Business School has implemented an electronic application process for graduation application (effective Dec 2024 graduation). This is a two step process:

Step 1: General “Application to Graduate” Process required by WPI Registrar. Fill out and submit your Application to Graduate via Workday.

Step 2: Business School Graduate Students Only: Fill out and submit your Adobe e-sign completion form accessed through the BUS-GSP Canvas Portal.

Once the WBS Grad Advising team receives your submission, submitted materials are audited. The team will follow up with questions (if necessary) and communicate with the Registrar’s Office through completion of the process. Administrative review is usually completed within a 10-15 day window after the Graduation Application Deadline. Students will be intimated upon completion of the review.

We thank you for your cooperation and support of this new electronic process as we streamline our support mechanisms for Graduate students in the Business School.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please email us at WBSgradadvising@wpi.edu.

Graduate Internship Reports

Creating an Internship Report

All students engaging in a credit-bearing graduate business internship (BUS5900) are required to submit a written report at least seven days prior to the last day of the semester within which the internship took place.

Students should submit a report for each semester (fall, spring, summer) in which they are working in an internship, even if they are spending multiple semesters in the same internship.

Internship reports should include:

Company name, and which semester(s) you have worked, or plan to work, with the company.

Short background of the company.

A description of your responsibilities within the internship (what you did; who you reported to; what you accomplished). You might discuss specific projects that you worked on, or what a typical day was like, and the different people you interacted with and what you learned from those interactions.

A discussion of how what you have learned in your WPI program contributed to your internship, including anything you believe should be added to your WPI program, and how this internship experience might help you in the future.

Internship reports should be three to five pages in length, double-spaced, 12-pt font.

If you are spending multiple semesters in the same internship, each internship report can be a 1-2 page update from the prior report.

Students enrolled in zero-credit internships are not required to submit a report and will receive a grade of “P” (Pass).
