Kara's undergraduate coursework at the United States Air Force Academy gave her a general knowledge base in engineering disciplines and prepared her well for teaching at a STEM-focused institution like WPI. Kara’s research interests are in social justice rhetoric and ethnic American studies. Her current research explores representations of the US military comparatively across multiple ethnic American canons.
